IWJazz.co.uk - Bob Howarth Big Band

Now under the direction of Charlie Ross, The Bob Howarth Big Band features some of the best musicians on the Isle of Wight. The Band’s Summer Concerts in Rylstone Gardens, Shanklin are very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike.

Bob Howarth, who died in 1986, played in the Jack Jackson Band with a very young Bruce Forsyth on piano, and later with Oscar Rabin. After Bob’s death the Band was re-formed (if not reformed) by Dick Sparks (sadly another Island great who has passed on) and in 1990 the baton was handed to Andy Norman.

Charlie Ross took over from Andy in October 2007.

A great Band for dancing The Bob Howarth Big Band is available for Weddings, Dinner Dances and any special occaision.

A new CD "Sentimental Journey" is now available £11.50 including p&p
